There  is quiet truth I’ve learned through walking alongside so many brave souls as they heal:
Healing doesn’t always look the way we thought it would.
It doesn’t always feel the way we hoped it might.
And it sometimes does not follow the timeline we want.

But that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

If you are reading this and you are feeling stuck, drainedor afraid that you’ve missed your chance to get well, want to say gently:

You haven’t missed anything.
Your body has not forgotten how to find its way.

This process is about staying on the path, however unsteady it feels. It is about noticing the flicker of light, even if the darkness has lasted far too long. It is about allowing for the possibility, however faint, that your body is still doing what it can, still working on your behalf, even when it feels like nothing is changing.

used to think was mostly better at the two-year mark. And in many ways, was. The worst had passed. But healing didn’t stop there. It kept happening in the background, in ways did not recognise at the time.

So whether you are two months in or years out…
Whether you are still in the throes of it or it is gently quietening
Whether you feel hopeful or can’t remember what hope feels like…

Your healing is still happening.
Your nervous system is still adapting. Your body is working on restoring equilibrium. This is not how your story ends. Healing will continue to unfold, breath by breath, moment by moment, hour by hour, day by day.

It is all quietly passing. Healing is still happening.

With much compassion,

Baylissa
